Limited Voluntary Recall For Select Shell Eggs Announced
Dear valued Golden Valley Eggs Customer,
Due to the recent prevalence of Avian Influenza in B.C., Golden Valley Foods Ltd. has had to source eggs from other suppliers out-of-province. We have been advised that some eggs provided to us by Burnbrae Farms were produced at a barn where an environmental site tested positive for Salmonella.
Out of an abundance of caution, Burnbrae Farms has initiated a voluntary recall for select eggs produced at the affected farm. A limited quantity of eggs are included in this recall.
Ensuring a safe egg supply and protecting public health is our top priority. Golden Valley Foods is working with Burnbrae Farms and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to inform the public and remove the affected eggs from the marketplace. This is a rare incident that affects a small quantity of eggs. This does not reflect the quality and safety of Canada Grade A eggs. There have been no reported illnesses.
Only a limited number of Golden Valley Eggs products are part of the recall. Find the list of all affected products, along with product photos and traceback codes, here: Certain brands of shell eggs recalled due to Salmonella – Canada.ca.
Consumers should check best before dates and traceback codes on egg cartons. If you are in possession of the recalled eggs, you should return them to the retailer where purchased or discard them immediately. Follow the instructions provided by the CFIA.
